HUMBLE BEGINNINGS

It all started in Boston 2018 gearing up to move to Miami, FL. Preparing for a pivotal moment of my life. Thinking to myself what am I going to do with all of these winter clothes? Giveaway? Donate to a local thrift shop? Re-purpose? Then a light bulb went off. I'm going to experiment and throw bleach on my clothes and paint this denim jacket 'KPTAKEOVA.' Viola! Little did I know an Upcycled Streetwear Brand was born. As I continued to experiment on my clothes, my focus was to use materials in my home that I already had access to which included bleach, scissors, tweezers, sand paper, basic art supplies such as paint & stencils. Since 2018 my experimenting has not stopped and now has evolved into a Upcycled Streetwear Lifestyle brand.

Who and What Is The Inspiration Behind Upcycling? Why Upcycled Streetwear?

Streetwear and thrifting has always existed in my childhood and into my teenage/adolescent young adult years, shoutout to my parents! Being born in the 90's was and still is the Golden Era of Fashion which is the epitome and heartbeat of my inspiration. The height of all the Black shows like Moesha, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Sister-Sister, Martin, Living Single, The Cosby Show, and A Different World showcased so much Personality, Style, Grace, Radical Political Views, and of course the funky bold colors and patterns!! I remember my Dad buying me the Babyphat, Rocawear, FUBU, and my Mom taking my sister and I thrifting. Thrifting was nowhere as 'popular' as it is now then back in the late 90's early 2000's. It wasn't necessarily the affordability, but more so providing another option and showing us an outlet that we can still be stylish and find hidden quality gems in a thrift store. Wardrobe changes and style evolution can get expensive but I figured out a solution. Repurpose and Upcycle what I already have in my closets or simply thrift and upcycle. Upcycled streetwear is the remix of the 90's and modern day times of fashion in unison. The streets will always inspire me and Streetwear and Upcycling is a part of me. The best part is that everything is 1of1 & there aint no duplicates!
